UMPIRES

WE STILL NEED UMPIRES EACH WEEK. PLEASE PUT YOU HAND UP IF YOU CAN HELP

The Umpire roster can now be found by click here

If you are available to umpire please either leave a comment in the Chat –> Umpires on TEAM APP, Email shpdta.sponsor@gmail.com or SMS 0403 456 053 with your name and the game you are available for.

Games that have multiple umpires will either be split up (if there is a game without an umpire) or shared. It would be preferred if the stronger and more experienced umpire takes a base and provides support, giving the newer umpires time behind the plate.

TBAWA SUPER SQUAD

A huge congratulations to the Lachlan Norris who was selected to be a part of the TBAWA Super Squad. The Squad is recognised as some of the best players on the diamond and the selection process involves players undergoing a number of drills to test their skills. Lachie follows in some great names that have represented the Pirates in recent years including Caleb Goodwin, Mitch Mola and also his older brother Bailey.

Commiserations to Nikita Hardy and Aidan Voute who both put in sensation efforts but unfortunately missed out this year.

The Super Squad can be seen playing before most Perth Heat home games at Baseball Park. They will also perform at Larkhill on the 30th January 2016 during the clubs hosting of the Pre-state Carnival.

The club would also like to congratulate other successful players within the Metro area.

Welcome Coaches

With the increase in numbers this year the club has been fortunate to see so many parents put their hand up and volunteer their time as coaches. For those new to the role I am sure you will find the role as exciting as it is challenging. For those wishing to learn more and obtain your Level 1 at the same time, the club is holding a Coaching Clinic run by TBAWA on Sunday 18th October. Registrations are essential so please email me with your request or shoot me an SMS with your details.

I will also be trying to make myself as available as possible during the week to assist coaches where they may need. My phone is always on so don’t hesitate to contact me.

Coaching packs which include your Scorebooks, Awards and Roster sheets will be available to be picked up on Saturday 10th October from 3.30 to 4.30 at the container located at the far end of Larkhill. I may also be able to drop it off at training for you throughout the week if you contact me.

UMPIRES

Congratulations to those who attended the Umpiring Clinic on Sunday the 4th October and obtained your Level 1 Green Shirts. Umpiring is an integral part of the game and without those volunteering their time to umpire our little members the reality is that there would be no games played. It was fantastic to see a number of younger players who are still at the club or have recently finished there playing at the club putting their hands up to assist.

If there is anyone else who would like to volunteer and gain their Level 1, please come and see me or speak with a committee member and we will either register you with a club holding a clinic close by, or if numbers permit we will hold a second clinic.

With the additional games being played at the same time this year, having enough Level 1 and 2 Umpires to assist with the smooth running of the game has never been more necessary. Please help get behind these volunteers and remember, this is a family game that is about fun, not sheep stations. If you see any abuse particularly towards the younger volunteers please notify a committee member who will intervene. There will be Zero Tolerance” this year to any abuse and parents will be asked to leave the grounds immediately so please remember, this is about the kids having fun, playing with friends whilst making new ones and developing their skills.
